GRACE: God's Unmerited Favor Pt. 5
We were made for worship. So God's invitation for us to make much of Him is one of the greatest gestures of His grace! May we not cheapen what it means to be human and may we be resolved to live in wonder and in awe of the one and only glorious God.
Pastor Heath challenges us to become a people of grace and truth. Grace and truth is the remedy for this broken world. The Gospel (i.e., Good News) of God’s kingdom in Christ is that both grace and truth has come, is, and is to come. In Christ, we are received, accepted, and forgiven. In Christ, we can have assurance, certainty, and clarity. May the grace and truth found only in Christ fill us, comfort us, and then flow through us to those in our lives craving for certainty, deliverance, hope, peace, and acceptance.
Pastor Heath shares on the trustworthiness of God, his Messiah - Jesus the Christ, and his Gospel of the kingdom of God. In a world full of instability, dishonesty, and let-down, God's promises are always "yeah and amen" in the Gospel of Christ.
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14
Pastor Heath gets practical with what working for justice may look like for Grace Church.
Pastor Heath offers some brief insight on the necessity of living with a communal concern for one another's well-being. Social justice is not a new western and political ideology - it's a biblical concept and biblical imperative!
God's people are called to work for the cause of justice.
If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.
Grace is God granting us forgiveness and favor though we deserve just punishment for our sin; while mercy is God compassionately healing us from our sin and brokenness due to being born into a sinful world.
We are called to show grace + mercy as we have received grace +mercy.
Of course showing mercy to someone will always require a sacrifice on your behalf, but no one ever suffered like Christ did in order to give life-giving aid to those who need it the most and deserve it the least!
Look to the Christ. See mercy like never before; and may we "go and do likewise."

Grace Church's Value's Series - a series short teachings about what Drives Grace Church.
Why did Jesus come? To bring redemption, to show mercy, to bring the good news of complete forgiveness and restoration, according to Luke 4 - to proclaim good news to the poor and freedom for the prisoners, recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
This is kind of movement we are to be about; this is kind of Gospel movement Grace Church will spend itself on!
We are not an idle church. We are a people on the move because our God is on the move, bringing shalom wherever the Good news of Jesus is carried.
This is why we preach the word. This is why we do community within our Community Groups. This is why we disciple and raise up new leaders. This is why we plant churches. This is why give money toward planting churches both locally and abroad. This is why we serve and renew the greater Dunedin area. This is why we strive to act justly, to love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.
Join us on our mission. Join us on the movement of th Gospel.

Grace Church's Value's Series - a series short teachings about what Drives Grace Church. The biblical message, authentic Christian theology, is about redemption and renewal through Christ acting justly and mercifully and serving those who deserved his renewing compassion the least. This is why the church is to be a people known by their love and service. We are to be a people committed to serving and renewing their communities. This is why serving & renewing is part of our mission statement. What in our community is broken and needs to be fixed? Where does the message of the Gospel need to permeate and bring about forgiveness and renewal? Well, wherever that is is where we need to be!
GRACE: God's Unmerited Favor Pt. 2
As continual recipients of grace and forgiveness, may we not hoard the way of forgiveness by only receiving it; but, as the people who have received the most grace and forgiveness, may we also extend it to those who have wronged us. To forgive is to be Christ-like. To forgive is bring a little taste God's good kingdom and our future heavenly home into a hellish world. A lifestyle of forgiveness is what we will all need! May we become a forgiving people.

Pastor Heath opens our September series on Grace. Dallas Willard defines Grace as "God acting in our lives to bring about what we do not deserve and cannot accomplish on our own." Paul begins every letter with a salutation of "grace and peace". May we become of people of grace and peace.
