Sheep + God’s Economy

GENESIS: The Lineage Pt. 7

As we conclude our studies through Genesis' account of Jacob's life, Pastor Heath shares from Genesis 48 and covers some of Jacob's last moments. At the end of his life, he's finally getting it. He has learned to see things through the lens of God's economy - the way of mercy and grace. that God's way is always harder and it's always better. He has discovered that ometimes it's God's will for us to be wounded in order for us to go on through life knowing that there are certain things we are called to do and be (for ourselves and for others) that we couldn't do unless we were wounded. Sometimes, it's God's perfect plan and will to alter our plans and for us to walk with a limp.

Struggling + Limping

GENESIS: The Lineage Pt. 6

As we continue our studies through Genesis, Pastor Heath covers one of the best known components of the Jacob narrative -- when Jacob wrestles with God in Genesis 32. It's his defining moment and, for Jacob, it's not just his name that changes (from Jacob to Israel), everything will change after this encounter with God!

Mandrakes + Contentment

GENESIS: The Lineage Pt. 5

As we continue our studies through Genesis, the next part of the Jacob story spans for three chapters (chs. 29 - 31) which cover Jacob’s long years living away from Canaan, with his uncle Laban, in Haran. In the text we discover that even in the midst of relational dysfunction and significant disappointments, true contentment can always be found in the Lord. For God is all we need.
