We are the dearly loved and eternally-redeemed people of God. The sovereign Creator + Sustainer of the universe has revealed His effectual love for us by sending His son, Jesus Christ, into the world in order to bring God’s love, restoration, and forgiveness to a fallen and broken humanity. May we not only receive this great love from God in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but may we also learn to share it and show it to others. May we learn to break the cycles of evil in our lives and in our world by forgiving as we have been forgiven and loving as we have been loved.
Pastor Heath shares a brief meditation of the goodness and greatness of God's Word before the kids share their monthly memory verse to the church.
“This God - his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? The God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless.” ~ Psalm 18:30-32
Jesus promised peace to those who follow Him. The peace He was and is giving is not a peace that this world can produce. No, this peace is not based on human ability or strength or virtue; it's based on Christ and the immutable character of the eternal God! May we know and experience this peace; and may it flow through us and into the lives of those around us.
Everyone, no matter their faith or the lack thereof, thinks something about God; and our theological thinking is ever evolving. Therefore, it’s imperative that we are sure to shape our theological thinking with truth and that we remain open to new improvements. Truth can be found and experienced in many places but it is the Word of God that enables us to find these nuggets of truth and to “hide them in our hearts.” It is the Word of God that separates truth from lie; and it is the Word of God that most brilliantly reveals the remedy – JESUS. May we learn to treasure the Word of God as the gift it is; and may we experience, worship, follow, and share the JESUS found within its pages.
